BLEND USED: Bored-O Rouge California Grape Nectar

Tasting Attributes: The symphony of red grapes in this blend of grape nectar keeps the congruency of the classic variation with notes of rich blackberry

We’re taking this classic London-inspired summer cocktail and adding A TON of variety! If you haven’t noticed, Domaine Santé strives to break the norm in every scenario and this cocktail creation follows suit. Maintaining the sweet, dark flavors of blackberry that make this drink so appealing, our Bored-O Rouge is the perfect alternative to the unlikely suspect in your home bar: creme de mure. The rich flavors and mouthfeel of the Cabernet, Merlot, and Malbec grapes serve as the sweetening agent in this cocktail, as well as adding so much depth and dimension. Skip the simple syrup and refined sugar and choose the natural grape sugars in Domaine Santé. We suggest shaking it up with all the other components, but feel free to add a final drizzle of our sweetener to remain true to the classic preparation.

We took it a step further and instead of using gin, we replaced this clear spirit with Mezcal from one of our favorite producers, Derrumbes. The slightly smokey, herbaceous quality of the gin surprises the palate, yet is balanced out perfectly by sweetness and touch of spice of the grape nectar. Truly a favorite cocktail to try out if you are inexperienced in working with Mezcal in your home or professional bar. A touch of a delicious fragola (strawberry) liqueur from Italian producer Tosolini adds an interesting additional berry element that harmonizes perfectly with the grape nectar. You will want to add it to everything! And lime instead of the classic lemon component to add an acidic element that brings it all together. We don’t mind a couple blackberries in addition to the mint to garnish too.

We hope that you always have a bottle of Grape nectar lying around, while few home bars stock the fruit liqueur component. And let’s face it, after a couple cocktails you can use your Grape Nectar in many more scenarios than just cocktails! Yet another cocktail isn’t a bad option: try our variation on the Manhattan, a Rosé Lemonade, and even our mocktail Safe Sangria, all using our Bored-O Rouge natural sweetener.
