BLEND USED: Bored-O Rouge California Grape Nectar

Tasting attributes: The bordeaux blend of grape nectar cuts the acidity of the citrus and offers jammy hints of dark berries on the finish

With the warm weather seasons right around the corner, who doesn’t want a refreshing go-to beverage? This lemonade recipe offers just enough sweetness to stimulate the palate, yet it doesn’t taste like you are drinking a cup of sugar like your typical version. The rich, bold flavors of our red version of Grape Nectar really round out the sharp citrus flavor of the lemonade. The subtle berry notes come through in the lemonade that really make this a perfect fit for the approaching berry season. Whip this classic up in just a couple minutes to keep hydrated during the warmer seasons.

And sugar content you ask? Your average lemonade contains about 25g of sugar per 8 ounce serving (which is a pretty short serving for most). This is your total allotted white sugar intake for the day in one small glass of lemonade! Cut this number in fourth by switching to a homemade variation using our sweeteners. One teaspoon of Grape Nectar, as recommended in this recipe for an 8 ounce serving, only has 2.7 grams of sugar, and it’s the natural kind found in the fruit itself. And if you like your beverages extra sweet, add another teaspoon of our alternative sweetener and you are still only intaking one-fifth the sugar content of your average lemonade, and none of that is white sugar!

If you are looking for a more classic variety, we would also recommend our white bordeaux variety. You will get the round, smooth flavor of our Bored-O Blanc Grape Nectar to cut the astringent lemony flavor, yet with more subtle aromatics and finish than our red variety. We say give both a shot! A great way to cut sugar and a new option for your everyday lemonade.

This lemonade recipe will deliver to both kids and adults alike. The interesting color the Bored-O Rouge brings to the lemonade attracts the kiddos and intrigues the adults. And the color is really those super good antioxidants from the wine grapes that boost your health. Wine grapes are loaded with 90% more antioxidants than your average table grapes, which are abundant in our red variety of Grape Nectar. A full-flavored sugar substitute that offers health benefits as well: WIN-WIN.

Let’s face it, fresh is always better and eliminating sugar is always better. Feel good about your sweetener option this spring and #DrinkBetter with our Rosé Lemonade!
