We know summer without exotic destinations has been grueling, so grab your favorite bottle of tequila or sparkling water and treat yourself to our latest creation. If you love a margarita or other sour, this beverage will bring something new to your glass in only a couple easy steps and ingredients. Whether it’s spirited or not, our Ultimate Paloma is vacation in a glass to compliment any hot summer day!
BLEND USED: Bored-O Blanc California Grape Nectar
Tasting attributes: Grape Nectar calms the sharp character of the citrus and adds a round, caramel mouthfeel.
If you can manage to find a nice pool to lay by this summer, we guarantee you will want this drink by your side. You probably instinctually think poolside = margarita when you think of a tequila, but this creation upgrades your sour game significantly. A paloma replaces the predominantly lime juice component of a margarita with its cousin the more chic grapefruit. Our Ultimate Paloma also eliminates the standard sugar component with our original blend of Grape Nectar to take the cocktail to the next level. And who doesn’t love an elevated cocktail that they can shake up instantly?
While some are accustomed to grapefruit soda, we believe you can’t skimp on fresh grapefruit juice for a proper paloma. It gives an irreplaceable, fruity flavor that we think you will adore. In a pinch and don’t have the fresh stuff on hand? You can opt for a grapefruit sparkling water, turning two ingredients into one for the next best thing.
Not only do we love fresh grapefruit, we also have to mention the lovely combination with our Sauvignon Blanc blend of Grape Nectar. The round, caramel feel of Bored-O Blanc Grape Nectar balances out the astringent character of the grapefruit and gives the drink a nice full mouthfeel. A little dash of lime and some bubbly water make the mocktail perfectly refreshing and definitely not too sweet.
Tequila definitely can add a lot of different notes to the cocktail version of this drink as well. With all of the fruit and sugar elements, you don’t need to reach beyond a blanco tequila to keep with the clean flavors. Although we do love the Maestro Dobel Diamante Reposado for its complex, but smooth nature. They actually use aged tequila and filter off the color to leave you with a very high quality, clear product. Make it your own, and try out this cocktail with your favorite agave spirit.
And lastly: To salt or not to salt? It’s totally up to you! Just as you choose with your margarita, add a little of the white stuff if you’re feeling salty!
We hope you are looking forward to trying out this worldwide sensation at your next outdoor roommate gathering. We think you will find our Ultimate Paloma to be fiercely refreshing, not to mention the eye catching pinkish gold color it brings to your glass. Cheers to you to #DrinkBetter this summer!
